Sad Sad Story

Creepy "Virtual Girlfriend" Video Game

by Ben Silverman

November 16 6:24 P.M.

Typically we don't kiss and tell, but we couldn't resist spilling the beans about Konami's DS game, Love Plus. It's just too creepy to keep to ourselves.

Currently only out in Japan, Love Plus is a dating simulation that lets you court several different virtual girls. If you play your cards right, one of them will start to fall for you.

And that's precisely where things go from odd to just plain icky.

As you grow closer, you'll need to take your new fake girlfriend out on dates -- in real time, no less -- and start planning your future together. Eventually she might ask for a kiss, which requires touching her on the lips. Or perhaps she'll ask you to whisper sweet nothings in her ear, which requires babbling pleasantries into the DS microphone (and a serious lack of shame).

An interview posted on BoingBoing revealed more sordid details about Love Plus, as told through the experience of happily married San Francisco man Koh and his happily not-a-real-person-at-all girlfriend, Rinko. When asked what they did together, Koh lent some insight into their awkward relationship:

"Ok, this is pretty embarrassing. The DS has a mic and a touchscreen, so... one time, she asked me to say 'I love you' a hundred times into the mic. I was on the airplane when she asked me that, so I was like, no way. There was also this part where you have to hold her hand on the touchscreen. If you touch her hand with the stylus, you get to hold her hand. And then there's the part where you have to kiss her."

OMG! So did he?

"No, no!" he responded when prodded by the interviewer. "The girl's face shows up on the screen, and you have to touch her lips to give her a kiss. That's pretty weird.... this is embarrassing. I'm sweating right now just talking about it."

Love Plus has caused quite a stir in Japan, as some wives have complained that their husbands are effectively 'cheating' on them by spending too much time with their virtual significant others. Do you agree? Or is this just harmless (albeit a little disturbing) fun? Sound off in the comments

Dating IS hard but I just don't think it's gotten THAT hard for me. I mean really?

Can We Say LIFETIME In Prison????????????????????

Who had kids by this dumb bitch?

Update: Florida woman leaves 3 toddlers alone for weekend with 6 cups of Jello; 1 dies

Christian Woods BELLVIEW, Fla. -- A toddler died when her mother left her and two small siblings alone at a home in Bellview, Fla., while she went to nearby Mobile during the weekend, according to sheriff's deputies in Escambia County, Fla.

The mother had placed six cups of Jell-O on the floor for the children to eat, deputies said.

Christian Rochelle Woods, 21, was arrested Tuesday in the death of one of her 18-month-old twins, Myleahya Danielle Woods.

Charges against her include one count of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated child abuse, according to the Sheriff's Office.

"She said that she went there with some other people to work," said Melissa Aiken, a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. "We have not been able to verify that, yet. We don't know where she was over there and what kind of work she did."

The arrest report listed Woods as unemployed. She remained in the Escambia County Jail on Wednesday on a total bail of $1 million.

After 12 hours of questioning, Woods told investigators that she returned home Monday around 9:30 a.m. and found Myleahya dead. Woods said that she placed her daughter's body in a trash can.

Earlier, at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, she called deputies from a Winn-Dixie in the Pensacola area to report one of her twins missing.

Deputies went to the home where they encountered Woods' father. He told them that Woods had asked him to go to the house to check on the children.

According to the arrest report, Myleahya's body was found in a trash can on the back porch.

Deputies searched Woods' home and discovered the other twin, Mykayla, under a bed. Officials feared that she was also dead, until her eyelids fluttered.

A 2-year-old son, Jaterius T. Woods, was also at the home.

During questioning, Woods said that she went to Mobile on Saturday and left her three children alone. Deputies said that the Scotland Circle house had no running water, electricity or food, and that the inside was "filthy" with "several roaches throughout."

Both surviving children remained at a Pensacola hospital Wednesday afternoon, Aiken said. They were in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A woman being driven around in a rented limousine pulled up at a coat store and announced she'd won the lottery and would pay for everyone's purchases, police said, but she ended up causing a riot when customers realized it was a hoax.

Angry customers threw merchandise around and looted, leaving the store looking as though a hurricane had passed through it, police said.

Linda Brown was arrested Tuesday after an hours-long shopping spree that began when she hired a stretch Hummer limousinehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2.gif to drop her off at a Burlington Coat Factory store, police Sgt. Lt. Michael Deakins said. Brown walked to a cash register and loudly announced she had won the lottery and would pay for each person's merchandise up to $500, he said.

Well, of course, people like to hear that," Deakins said. "Apparently they were in line calling relatives who were not at the store and told them to come."

People flooded the registers as cashiers began ringing up purchase after purchase, but Brown had not yet paid the bill, Deakins said. At least 500 people filled the aisles and another 1,000 were outside trying to get in, he said.

"She was telling people she won $1.5 million," Deakins said. "But it ends up she didn't win anything. She had no money to pay for anything."

About an hour later, Brown had the limousine driver take her to a bank to withdraw money, but she returned empty-handed, police Detective Steven Nace said. By then, store employees had called in two dozen police officers to handle the crowds.

Shopper Candace Jordan said she told Brown she didn't need clothes, she needed help paying her rent.

"And she said, 'How much is it?'" Jordan told WBNS-TV. "And she promptly wrote out a check."

By the time employees realized Brown didn't have any cash to pay, police said, she already had taken off in the limo.

That's when angry customers, realizing they weren't getting free coats, began throwing merchandise on the floor and grabbing clothes without paying for them, Nace said.

"Everybody was like, 'I still want my free stuff,' and that started the riot," he said. "It looks like (Hurricane) Katrina went through the store."

Police said they have no way of tracking down the customers who stole items and fled, but they're reviewing surveillance video.

When the limousine driver realized he wasn't going to be paid the $900 Brown owed him for the day's rental, he turned her in to police, Deakins said.

Brown, 44, was arrested on three outstanding warrants for aggravated menacing, misuse of a 911 system and causing false alarms. She was jailed late Wednesday, but no charges had been filed against her related to the coat store chaos pending a mental health evaluation.

Police said they didn't know if Brown had a lawyer. No telephone number was listed under her name, and no one answered repeated phone calls at the Franklin County Jail.

A spokeswoman for Burlington Coat Factory, which is based in Burlington, N.J., and has more than 300 stores across the country, said late Wednesday she couldn't comment on the incident.
